Your Conference & Travel Benefits

Put your earned benefits to work. Follow these four steps to secure funding for your professional development.

Step 1:

Review eligibility and reimbursable costs

We fund one conference award per member, per year. Conferences must be within the U.S. or Canada, align with your current role, and award relevant CEUs.

What we cover (reasonable costs):

  • Registration fees
  • Economy-class airfare or mileage to and from the conference location, provided it is more than 90 miles away from your home
  • Economy hotel room or equivalent lodging for the conference dates (plus one day prior, if needed for travel)
  • In-state travel that is more than 90 miles away from your home

What we do not cover:

  • Local travel (taxis/rideshares at the destination) or travel less than 90 miles from your home
  • Meals or incidentals
  • Travel upgrades or optional fees, such as checked bags
  • Flights to destinations other than the conference location and your home

Note: All “reasonable” cost determinations are made at the sole discretion of the Healthcare Training Fund.

Funding request deadlines:

Funding requests are accepted quarterly: March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1. The Sept. 1 deadline applies to conferences occurring in the first quarter of the following year.

Request funding approval

You must request and receive approval before you attend your conference. We cannot fund events that have already taken place. Once you submit the form, we will contact your manager for approval. Complete the funding request form.

Gather your documentation

  • Conference details: A conference brochure or screenshot of the conference website that shows name, dates, location, cost, sponsor, and available CEUs
  • Lodging estimates: Sample rates for hotels near the event from Google, Expedia, or another travel site. (Do not book yet; wait until you’ve received pre-approval).
  • Transportation estimates: Sample airfare or a Google Maps route/mileage if you are driving (federal mileage reimbursement rate)
