Jyniece’s Success Story
Driven by her compassion, beliefs, and desire to improve the lives of those around her, Jyniece felt called to a career in healthcare. Having learned about Introduction to Healthcare Employment and Apprenticeship Programs (IHAP) from her mom, she felt it was the right path for her and decided to enroll to develop the skills and knowledge needed to work in the healthcare field. Today, she is learning on the job as a Medical Assistant apprentice.
“When I looked into it more, I saw that [IHAP] was a free and legitimate pathway into a career that matched my interests and could guide me toward a stable future.”
IHAP is a 4-week long healthcare training program that serves as an introduction to healthcare careers and apprenticeships. It is free and open to community members. Upon completion, graduates can apply for entry-level healthcare jobs or, like Jyniece, go on to become an apprentice.
“IHAP has truly been a blessing in my life. It has helped me grow personally and professionally, connect with others, and showcase the skills I have been developing… I chose the apprenticeship route because, after being a stay-at-home mom, I needed a way to earn income while also learning, building skills, and gaining real experience.”
Her journey won’t end with the apprenticeship, though. Looking to the future and guided by a sense of purpose and her personal faith, she hopes to attend nursing school and become a registered nurse after completing her apprenticeship.
“As I look ahead, my goal is to complete the milestones in this program and, if it is God’s will, continue my education by going to nursing school and becoming a registered nurse.”
